Norwich InterFaith Link Constitution

1.1 The name of the voluntary organisation is Norwich InterFaith Link.
2.1 To build good relations with people of different faiths and beliefs.
2.2 This is to be achieved by:
2.2.1 Holding regular discussions of topical issues with a faith or belief perspective.
2.2.2 Holding regular social events.
2.2.3 Hosting events where exchange can take place in a safe environment where members will able to express their views freely.
2.2.4 Ensuring that all activities and exchanges take place in full accordance within the rules laid out in the Code of Practice.
3.1 Administration shall be carried out by an Executive Committee.
3.2 The Executive Committee will be elected at the Annual General Meeting and will consist of a Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary, and Treasurer, and four other members to reflect as far as possible the diversity of faith groups represented in the membership.
3.3 The Executive Committee is accountable for the programme and finances to the AGM of Norwich InterFaith Link.
3.4 The Executive Committee may co-opt up to four members in any one year in order to ensure the widest possible representation of faith groups.
4 Reference Group
4.1 The Executive Committee will seek to establish and maintain a Reference Group, to provide a gateway to all the member faiths, and to ensure that the list is updated every year.
4.2 This group will not normally meet but will be consulted as need by the Executive Committee by phone and/or email.
5 Norwich InterFaith Link Membership
5.1 Norwich InterFaith Link has an open policy and people of all faiths and beliefs can belong to Norwich InterFaith Link either as individuals or as an organization, provided they accept and adhere to the Code of Practice.
5.2 Basic Membership is free of charge and consists of inclusion on a mailing list for events, etc.
5.3 Supporter Membership is also available, giving access to additional member benefits to be determined by the Executive Committee, at rates to be determined each year by the Executive Committee.
6 Frequency of Meetings
6.1 The Executive Committee - as need dictates.
6.2 Norwich InterFaith Link Meetings – one on most months of each year.
6.3 An Annual General Meeting will be held not later than 4 - 6 weeks after the end of the financial year.
7 Election of Officers
7.1 Officers are nominated and seconded by members (Basic or Supporter) of the organisation.
7.2 Elections will take place at the Annual General Meeting.
7.3 Officers shall be elected annually and will serve a maximum of three consecutive years. This period can be extended at the AGM for the following year, but only if no other candidate is available. Officers will not be eligible for re-election to the same office within a period of one year thereafter.
8.1 A full financial report will be made by the Treasurer at the Annual General Meeting.
8.2 Accounts will be presented at the Annual General Meeting.
8.3 The financial year will commence on 1st April and will end on 31st March of the subsequent year.
9.1 Amendments to this Constitution can be carried out at either the Annual General Meeting or at an extra-ordinary General Meeting held at a time to be agreed by the Executive Committee.
9.2 If necessary, one member, one vote will apply and 75% of those present must agree with a motion for it to be carried.
10 Exit Strategy
10.1 The decision to disband Norwich InterFaith Link can only be taken by an AGM, and 60% of those present must agree with the motion for it to be carried.
10.2 Any remaining funds will be forwarded to the InterFaith Network for the United Kingdom.
